“Zoe has said many wonderful things about the help and contributions that you have given to the project and we have really enjoyed working with you at the sessions, I know the students did too.”

In The Community

All of the activities which I develop and deliver are suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities and can be very effective when run in community centres or for youth groups. I offer information and hands-on activities which can last from 10 minutes to a few hours and can be as structured or informal as required; see below for a brief outline of the types of sessions I run. Please contact me for further details and availability.

Design and Build Projects: I offer a range of activities which I can deliver after school as a STEM Club during the school term or as a stand alone STEM Day during the school holidays. I bring everything required to run a hands-on activity. All projects include investigation, science and engineering methodology, applied maths and science calculations, team work, design, building, testing and self evaluation. There is even a prize for the most successful team!

Science Busking: I can deliver a range of short science activities which have been developed to evoke curiosity and inspire scientific or mathematical thinking. All of the activities are designed to be carried out in the style of a street busker so require minimal space, time and equipment.

Drop In Sessions: This type of activity involves one or more short activities being set up so that anyone wishing to get involved can carry them out with minimal guidance at any time during the session. I offer activities suitable for families with children aged 5+ up to teenagers with an interest in science and engineering.

Sci/Art and Communication Projects:

I have been involved in a variety of projects which have called for the engagement of the general public with science and with engineering.

In 2010 I was involved with the flash mob opening of the British Science Festival in Birmingham and worked as a science busker and with the Super K Sonic Boooum at the Manchester Science Festival.

I was also involved with the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) funded scheme for engineers with a story to tell, creating a digital resource with the help of Barrie Stephenson.

These events have inspired me to explore the different ways in which we can increase engagement and understanding of STEM subjects. If you are a local theatre group, dance group, or artist and have an idea or would like to be involved with developing projects please contact me.
